Justice Ministries is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to combating sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of women, with a focus on rescue & housing. Our goal is to locate victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, help them get out of their situation and into a safe place, facilitate an environment conducive to healing, and assist them in their transition to independence.
Many of the victims that we serve are young women that have been forced into the sex trade. The average age of entry into prostitution is 12-14 years old. It is shocking, but this is happening in the USA and it is happening in your state.
There are currently only about 600 bed spaces nation-wide specifically for victims of human trafficking, but it is estimated that there are hundreds of thousands of victims in the USA. Therefore, our top priorities right now are to raise the funds needed to reach out to women who are caught in this horrific industry, and provide appropriate and secure housing for survivors. How JM started:
God put the issue of Human Trafficking on my heart in January 2010 at the Passion conference in Atlanta, GA. When I became aware of the reality that there were teenage girls in my city being forced into prostitution, I couldn’t do nothing. As a Christian, and as a man, I had to take action.
God gave me the vision for Justice Ministries, and Justice Ministries was founded in July of 2010. The organization received their 501(c)3 status in April 2011, and the work began.
In 2012, Justice Ministries connected with Rise Up Ministries. After weeks of working together, the two organizations decided to merge their efforts and Rise Up became a division of Justice Ministries. Rise Up leads the outreach efforts to connect with women who have been sexually exploited and trafficked.
Why the Buffalo?
The buffalo is the symbol for Justice Ministries, because buffalo naturally defend and protect the females and the young in the herd by forming a perimeter around them when predators approach. At Justice Ministries, we want to provide a safe place for survivors of human trafficking.
