Our goal is to locate victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, help them get out of their situation and into a safe place, facilitate an environment conducive to healing, and assist them in their transition to independence.
To accomplish our overall mission, we must complete 4 objectives:
Reach out – Locate victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Relocate – Help them get out of their situation and into a safe place.
Rehabilitate – Facilitate an environment conducive to healing.
Rise Up – Assist them in their transition to independence.
Objective # 1
Our first objective is to locate, identify, and establish trust with women who are victims of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. This goal is accomplished by strategic outreach methods.
Objective # 2
Our second objective is to help the victim get out of their situation and into a safe place. The initial “safe place” is a pre-designated emergency housing option. All of our emergency housing options are designed to be short term solutions that address the immediate need of shelter for individuals who would otherwise be in great danger or homeless. Once a victim has been placed in emergency housing, a qualified agent of Justice Ministries will go through an intake process with the victim, and the team will develop an action plan to address the specific needs of that victim. Most cases will require that the individual be placed in a long-term housing program.
Objective # 3
Our third objective is to facilitate an environment conducive to healing. Many victims will require and prefer to be placed in a long-term housing program. At this time, Justice Ministries does not have the financial means to support a long-term housing option; however, we have plans to build “The Mosaic House” when we meet our goal of $150,000. To date, we are ⅕ of the way to meeting our goal on this capital campaign. Being that we do not currently offer a long-term housing option, we join with partner organizations, both locally and out-of-state, that offer long-term housing options. The most ideal situation is to secure placement with a housing program that is fully staffed; however, there are limited bed spaces nation-wide, so this can be a challenge. We also partner with local organizations that offer non-staffed housing options; in those cases we offer case management and assistance through our Rise Up program. Additionally, Rise Up offers case management and assistance to women who were not placed in a long-term housing program, but have found shelter with family, friends, or other means.
Objective # 4
Our fourth and final objective is to assist them in their transition to independence. The Rise Up program offers case management and assistance to women who are serious about taking the next steps to provide for themselves and in many cases their children.
Areas of focus in the program are counseling, IOP, work opportunity, continuing education, and of course Church activities and Bible studies are strongly encouraged, but we do not require girls to attend.
Other services provided in the program include: transitional housing options, assistance with transportation needs, medical assistance, child care, & mentor/life coaches.
